Burlingame Annual Events

With its proximity to San Francisco and its own rich history, Burlingame is an attractive place to hold events and celebrations. Attractive to both visitors and residents alike, Burlingame, California annual events serve a variety of interests and groups. These yearly Burlingame, CA events are suitable for both children and adults and many are free. From afternoon concerts, Shakespeare in the Park and family movie nights to the arts festival and annual pet parade, Burlingame’s calendar is filled with plenty of events to keep the entire family busy.

Burlingame Annual Events

Family Concerts
Held in Washington Park, at 850 Burlingame Ave in Burlingame, families are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy fun music every Sunday in July. The concerts start at 1 p.m. For more information, call 650-558-7300 or visit www.burlingame.org. This event is free to attend.

Scottish Holiday Concert
This free holiday event is suitable for all ages. Featuring the Stewart Tartan Pipes and Drums at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, at 415 El Camino Real in Burlingame, the concert showcases Scottish ballads, bagpipes and drums and special guest appearances. Movies in the Park
Head to Washington Park’s baseball field during August and September to catch family friendly films for free. Held at 8 p.m. on Friday nights, these events include concession snacks and show movies that are great for children of all ages. For your comfort, blankets and low-backed lawn chairs are recommended. ArtzFest
Beginning its history as the Burlingame Art and Jazz Festival, the new ArtzFest has expanded into an entire weekend of fun. With award-winning musicians, many more artists, gourmet food, an enjoyable children’s area and a Home, Garden and Green section, this community festival is a summer staple. Burlingame Pet Parade
The pet parade began in 2004 and has been every year since with help from the Peninsula Humane Society. Hosted by community organizations and businesses, this September parade includes a bevy of community pets and animals, marching bands, a spay-neuter van and an adoption van. Shakespeare in the Park
Traveling Shakespeare troupes often make it to Burlingame fairly often to perform in such venues as the library. But for the annual San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, all you need to do is make the short drive to Redwood City. Held on the historic Sequoia High School’s park-like grounds, at 1201 Brewster Avenue at Broadway, these plays are held every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. With free admission, these festivals invite families, students and adults alike to witness the Bard of Avon’s great works performed by high-quality professional actors. For your comfort, you are invited to bring blankets and low lawn chairs to watch these works. Usually held in August, it is recommended that you show up early to ensure a seat. Concessions are available at the plays.
