SENS Research Foundation 2015 SRF Summer Scholars Program Applications Now Open

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 7, 2015) - The SENS Research Foundation announced today that applications are open for the 2015 SRF Summer Scholars Program. The program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience by conducting biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and cardiovascular disease. Under the guidance of scientific mentors, each Summer Scholar conducts his or her own research project in such areas as tissue engineering, genetic engineering, and science policy. The SRF Summer Scholars Program prepares students for a wide range of future biomedical career paths, not limited solely to traditional bench research, by emphasizing the development of both laboratory skills and communication skills.

The 2015 program offers a total of fifteen paid internships at leading research institutes including:

  • Buck Institute for Research on Aging

  • Harvard Stem Cell Institute

  • Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute

  • Scripps Research Institute

  • SENS Research Foundation Research Center

  • Stanford University

  • University College London

  • University of Oxford

  • Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

In addition to receiving a stipend, participating students also will be funded to present their project results during the poster session of the 2015 Rejuvenation Biotechnology Conference, August 19 - 21, 2015 in Burlingame, CA.

The online application and full descriptions of each research project being offered this year can be found at www.sens.org/2015-summer-scholars. Applications are due on February 2, 2015.
